Tale #1: Exploring for new blogs (Learning About Blogs)

  Welcome back!

When I was asked to do research on blogs and give detailed descriptions on each of them. I was confused because I didn't know what to choose or what to pick. Then the craziest thing happened to me, I got hit by a meteor, Nah I’m just kidding, I realized I had not established my opinion of what I wanted to get out of these blogs or what I liked or disliked. While embarking on this adventure, I knew instantly I needed to get out of my comfort zone by reading things that I didn't usually read in order to finish this assignment. After my brave discovery, I realized that there was a blog for everyone, and it turns out that they go from politics to a fun step-by-step manual on how to change your wardrobe.

The first blog I read was about a woman named Emily, who was on a family vacation and had to make a last-minute decision. She eventually goes to Amsterdam first. She quickly realizes that it is a disguised blessing when she is able to enjoy a variety of wonderful activities, she usually wouldn’t have done. This personal blog is one of my favorites due to how she explains everything she did as if she was your friend. Emily provides these aesthetically appealing photos, which are mixed with what she ate and all the sites she saw. She gives you advice on family vacation planning, what she prefers, and how she was able to adapt to her daughter's sleep schedule. What I would have preferred if she had done is to name all of the places where she went with the photo and foods she liked from various restaurants.  Emily's Vacation

This is an example photo from the one she had posted in her blog.

Now the
second one I read I would have never read the blog voluntarily, but it caught my eye in such a particular way. It was about baking cookies however, it was a useful resource to help people who don't speak English that well, find a fun way to learn the language. It gave you clear instructions along with key words in addition to its definition. (HOW CUTE!!!!) The only thing, I would consider disappointing is the lack of space in between old and new recipes and the way it felt suffocated together. I would have liked for the author to insert photos of the ingredients and how to put them together especially since other recipes included them. No Bake Cookies
(at the Bottom of the blog page, you will see the recipe)

The different examples of the tiny Micro plastics in the types of clothing

The third blog was so interesting that it made me change my entire perspective on clothes. It explains the authors concerns regarding their problem with micro plastics in our clothing and gives the public an in-depth explanation of how specific fabrics are causing tiny micro plastics to infiltrate our oceans from our washers. They also provide many useful guides on what to look for when making purchases to prevent this from happening. It is an informational blog and I enjoyed reading every second of it. The writer provides facts to support their opinion and offers a video to help the reader understand what micro plastics are.The only thing I would change immediately is how the author starts the blog, I was confused at first because of how it was formulated and the way the author had organized it.

I learned that blogs have different types of styles depending on the author. I enjoyed writing and researching for blogs. Until next time!

  1. Hi Iliana!
The blog you listen about the vacation really made me want to start researching more personal blogs. I have not read as much of those and that one sounds very interesting to me. The one about baking was so lovely and I will be reading it right after this! It was also cool how informative it was. I was wondering though, what are some blogs you do not like as much or that you immediately turn away from?

  2. I really enjoyed reading your entry Iliana. It felt like a genuine first hand experience. Almost as if we were having lighthearted conversation. You picked such great topics, I had no idea there was plastic in clothing. Kudos to you for stepping outside your comfort zone.
